Common Spiders That Invade Indoors

It's not uncommon for spiders to wander indoors by accident while looking for food. Spiders often eat smaller insects like flies, worms, mosquitoes, and moths. Some larger spiders can eat snails, frogs, lizards, and even birds. If you find spiders in your home, it could be an indication of a larger bug problem that needs to be addressed.

Here are some of the most common spider species found in Northern Nevada:

  • Wolf spider: Wolf spiders are a relatively large species that can grow up to an inch in length. They don’t construct webs, instead using their strong legs to hunt and chase down prey.
  • Jumping spider: Jumping Spiders have bodies roughly the size of a penny but with long, thin legs that allow them to jump up to 25 times their body lengths! They tend to be very active during the day and even form relationships with other spider species.
  • Black widow spider: One of the most notorious spiders in North America, black widow spiders are easily identifiable due to their bright red hourglass marking on their abdomen. Though they're venomous, bites are rarely fatal if treated quickly.
  • House spiders: House spiders come in many various shapes and sizes but typically measure between 3/16th and 5/8ths of an inch long. Like wolf spiders, they don't build webs either; instead spinning funnel webs near cracks or crevices along walls or furniture where insects will often crawl through.
  • Brown recluse spiders: Brown recluse spiders usually measure around 1/4th of an inch in length making them hard to identify without close inspection. These timid arachnids are also venomous, but bites are rare unless threatening them.

At Bonanza Pest Control, our licensed technicians can perform a thorough inspection of your property to identify exactly what type of spider you are dealing with and provide customized solutions to eliminate it.

Where Spiders Like To Hide

Spiders are great hiders, and when they make their way indoors, you'll often find them in secluded areas like attics, basements, closets, and garages. But that's not all - spiders may also be found lurking around furniture or corners of rooms where insects tend to gather. In places where they are well established, they may leave cobwebs on walls, eaves, and furniture.

No matter where you find them in your home or property, our technicians have the tools and knowledge to get rid of them! Our Reno spider control team will create a personalized treatment plan to identify and eliminate all spiders from your space while taking preventive measures to keep them away for good.

Some of the steps we take for spider control include:

  • Knockdown and removal of webs
  • Vacuuming spider eggs and webs
  • Crack and crevice treatments to eliminate any spiders living in hard-to-reach locations
  • Application of residual insecticides to kill spiders on contact
  • Installation of spider monitors that can detect the presence of spiders or egg sacs
  • Minor exclusion work like sealing external cracks and holes in entry points.

Don’t wait until your property has become overrun by spiders! Contact Bonanza Pest Control today at (775) 256-9044 or submit to our form for a free estimate.
